My
love for dance developed at an early age as I watched my mother
and father jitterbug and cha-cha in our Southern California home.
Our home was filled with joyful smiles and laughter as we watched
them dance about the living room to the musical sounds of the Platters
and Credence Clearwater Revival. As an inspired child, stumbled
through ballet and tap classes. In high school, I had fun
with jazz and modern dance then later discovered an appreciation
for partner dancing through country western and ballroom dance.
My first introduction to belly dance was in 1996 while attending
as SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) camping event at Pawnee
Grasslands in Colorado. Awe struck by colorful jingly costumes,
beautiful expressive body movements and the pounding rhythm of middle
-eastern drums, I was allured to the art of belly dance. I
have been captivated with belly dance ever since. Belly dance
has liberated me, redirected, and changed my life.
Through
many different years of belly dancing, I am grateful to all of my
wonderfully talented instructors. They gave me a good foundation
in different aspects of the dance to create my own fused belly dance
style. Kudos to my instructor and dear friend Joynan - she's
absolutely amazing!
Special
thanks to all of my supportive dance friends for whom I cherish
and appreciate our love in this special sisterhood of dance.
I am truly blessed to belong to an exclusive group of women that
stretches worldwide. |
